Different night - same result

Richelieu may be ten now but he showed his younger rivals how it was done when racing to a comprehensive three length success in division two of the Group Discounts At Dundalk Handicap.

Chris Hayes got a great response from his mount down the middle of the track, leading from under a furlong out before going on to beat Rigid Rock .

Lee Smyth trains the course and distance winner from seven weeks ago and he said: "He runs best fresh and it's a case of not being too greedy with him.

"Hopefully he'll come back here in three or four weeks and I still think there's another one in him.

"We'll keep him to six furlongs, that's ideal for him and it doesn't make sense to go any further."

Previously a four time winner for Jimmy Lambe, Richelieu also beat Rigid Rock when winning here over course and distance 49 days ago and the third from that occasion, Desert Al , also filled the bronze medal position here. Déjà Vu – it could only happen on a Friday 13th! (AM & EM)
