Digby bypasses Cartmel in favour of assignment closer to home A winner at Bangor last month, the Dermot McLoughlin trained Digby will not make a return trip across the Irish Sea, where he had been entered at Cartmel on Monday. However, while an assignment closer to home looks the preferred option, his trainer hasn't ruled out another UK venture in the coming weeks. McLoughlin said: "No (not going to Cartmel on Monday), he is probably staying at home. He might run in Ballinrobe Monday or maybe the following week in England. "He was very good (in Bangor), just loads of ability. "He's frustrating, he works very well at home. Paddy O'Brien rode him the last day too in Bangor and if it was anyone else, they would have pulled him up. "The owner was standing beside me and I knew from the third-last that he would win. He was getting confidence, and everything else was tiring, and he was only starting to gallop. "The owner said to me the other day that they are expecting a lot of rain over there, so that is why we didn't travel (to Cartmel)." Additional reporting by Michael Graham.
