Discussiontofollow could make an appearance on Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh next month following his excellent effort in the 32Red Cup at Glorious Goodwood.

Mike Murphy's exciting sprinter finished a close third in the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh earlier in the season before enjoying his day in the sun with a lucrative victory at Ascot in early July.

He was far from disgraced in finishing sixth behind Intrinsic at Goodwood last weekend, but Murphy feels his charge may have been feeling the effects of a busy spell.

"He ran a really good race, but it was his third run in five weeks and he didn't quite quicken up as we expected him to," said the Bedfordshire trainer.

"Two furlongs down I thought and Shane (Kelly) felt he was either going to win or finish in the first three, but he just didn't quite show that acceleration he has.

"He came out of the race well, but obviously a little bit tired, so we're giving him a short break to freshen him up.

"There is a race back at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend, a premier handicap over six furlongs.

"The other option is the Ayr Gold Cup, which is a week later, so I think he'll probably run in one of those.

"He's a horse who wants good ground or better, so we'll go wherever conditions are suitable."
