Doctor Du Mesnil again shows his liking for Cork Doctor Du Mesnil added to a bumper win here last year when taking advantage of a good opportunity in the Springfort Hall Country House Hotel Maiden Hurdle at Cork. Trained by Willie Mullins for the Over The Sticks Syndicate, the six-year-old was sent off the 2/9 favourite in the absence of likely danger Jeroboam Machin who was withdrawn due to the going (officially good, good to yielding in places). Paul Townend elected to make all on the hot-pot and he didn’t need to get serious on the run-in as the son of Doctor Dino kept on well to beat Doctor Elvis by five lengths. Killowen House was a further five and a half lengths back in third. Townend said, “He was idle and the hurdles probably aren't big enough for him. Some he jumped well but others he brought with him although it is nice to get him back winning. “We thought he would be very nice when he won here last year and while he didn't have bad runs, I didn't think we'd be here now winning a maiden. He is very idle in front but winning will do his confidence good. "You won't see the best of him until he goes over a fence, and he got away with the ground today. He might have a short holiday before maybe coming back in the autumn.” Quotes by Tom Weekes
