Donnacha O’Brien completed a double on the evening at Dundalk as Full Moon justified strong support in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.

The imposing son of Declaration Of War was facing three previous course winners but was all the rage in the market in receipt of 5lb from his rivals.

The 4/5 favourite, available at 11/8 earlier in the day, travelled smoothly early in the straight to challenge on the inner but needed plenty of encouragement inside the final furlong to get home in front.

The Ballydoyle trained favourite beat Downdraft by half a length, with Andesh just a neck back in third.

Donnacha O’Brien, also on the mark earlier on the card aboard Drapers Guild (5/1) trained by his brother Joseph, said “I've always thought he was a lovely horse.

“He maybe doesn't do a whole lot when he gets there and I've made that mistake on him the last twice. He'll be a nice horse back on turf.”
