Richard Hughes rode his 200th winner of the season as Aertex won the rewards4racing.com Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Kempton Park.

The Alamo had taken the Champion Jockey elect to 199 when winning at Windsor on Monday, and the 40-year-old didn't have to wait long to bring up his second century.

Hughes had been scheduled to have two rides at Lingfield in the afternoon but both were declared non-runners. He had to settle for second aboard his first ride of the evening, Hero's Story, in the 17.40 but wasn't long in going one better.

The situation looked unpromising well inside the final furlong as Alfaayza struck for home and opened up a commanding lead.

Hughes, however, emerged from the chasing pack aboard the Richard Hannon-trained juvenile and the 8/1 chance made up the ground hand over fist to eventually win a shade cosily by a length and three quarters.

It was the first time that Hughes has ridden 200 hundred winners, and he is the first jockey to do so since Kieren Fallon in 2003.
