Joint top-weight Bruant gave Tony Martin a second winner on the day when taking the AJC Group Handicap Hurdle at Downpatrick.

Martin was earlier on the mark with the Daniel King-ridden 10/11 favourite Eben Zaabeel and it was Kevin Sexton who brought up the trainer's double.

He gave the 3/1 favourite a most patient ride, coming from off the pace to win by a length and a half in the colours of the Elizabethcarsonracing Syndicate from the Cian Collins-trained 12/1 shot Kashchei .

Sexton said: "I rode him to get the trip and he got it well.

"He just came back a little bit sore (dismounted before returning to winners' enclosure) - it is lovely ground, on the slow side of good, but he might have pulled something coming down one of the hills.

"The main thing is switching him off. It is deadly riding for Tony, because he puts no pressure on you and fills you with confidence. The horses are flying at the minute.

"He does (love it around Downpatrick) - that is twice I have won on him here now and similar rides both times. I know him well at this stage.

"Hopefully, he is sound in the morning."
