Chicago Critic came from last to first, giving Ben Coen and Johnny Murtagh a double, to win the Listed Porsche In Support Of Breast Cancer Ireland Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown.

The complexity of this race changed before the stalls even opened, as 8/11f Diego Velazquez was withdrawn having reared up.

Coen was content to watch on from rear in the initial stages, as Wahdan led the quintet, chased by Kortez Bay

Pushed along to made headway on the outside over two-furlongs out, Chicago Critic went third with just over a furlong to race.

Ridden to lead over 150 yards out, the Night Of Thunder gelding stayed on powerfully to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths at 14/1.

Ben Coen said: “He’s a talented horse. We’ve kind of been messing around a bit with trips for him from a mile to six (furlongs) but I think a mile and fast ground is ideal for him.

“We didn’t go quick today, and I had a good turn of foot towards the end. It’s nice to get his head in front again.”
