Doubles for Weld and Roche as Oath lands finale On a night of doubles at Dundalk Sacred Oath gave Dermot Weld a first and last race brace and jockey Leigh Roche a quick follow up win when taking the concluding maiden. The Lope De Vega filly travelled well off a strong pace to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home in the mile-and-a-half contest. She stuck on well in the closing stages to record a length-and-three-quarter win at odds of 8/1. The winner had disappointed on her last visit to the track, in November, having been placed three times previously. She wore cheekpieces for the first time this evening. Weld had landed the opener with Brosna Town while Roche had partnered Cousin Shay to success in the preceding race. The winning rider said:- "She was good and genuine there tonight. "The last day there was an excuse for her and the time before that might have been beaten by a better horse on the night. "We went along a good, even gallop the whole way until we got down the back and steadied up for a bit. She travelled into it everywhere and I was actually hoping something would lead me a bit further. "She put her head down and galloped to the line and did it well. "It means a lot for a filly like her to get that win on the board." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
