Having ridden out his 3lb claim on Flying Fortress in the previous contest, jockey Robert Whearty quickly doubled up at Listowel for trainer Gavin Cromwell on Secret Force (16/1) in the Kevin's Bar, Listowel/Exchange Inn, Ballybunion Handicap.

In a dramatic contest, the winner raced mid-division and came with his challenge on the outer in the straight before getting the best of a three-way battle in the closing stages. The Godolphin-bred Frankel gelding got home by a nose from Bridezilla with Superficial just a head back in third.

The handicap debutant, owned by James Fyffe, was having his first start in Ireland after three runs in Britain. Justenzia ridden by Dylan O'Connor, was looking for room behind the leaders when clipping a heel and slipping up over a furlong out, bringing down the Keithen Kennedy-ridden Chica Guerrera

Thankfully, both riders and both horses were quickly on their feet.

O'Connor later received a 10-day suspension for careless riding.

Whearty said: "I'm delighted to get that as we didn't know a whole lot about this horse being a first run for us. He showed a bit today and ground it out well to the line.

"It is slow, dead ground and is taking a bit of getting but our lad handled it.

"I was away out from the drama (in the home straight) but thought things were getting tight on the inside, so I was happy to be where I was."
