Down Royal attracts leading British trainers. Leading trainers, Alan Berry, Kevin Ryan, Stan Moore and Paul Johnson will launch an invasion of British trained runners at the Down Royal meeting on Friday, 26th and Saturday, 27th September 2003. The top trainers who are currently attending the Fairyhouse Yearling Sales this week have confirmed they intend to have runners at Down Royal which will feature the Connswater Shopping Centre Race Day on the Saturday which has been designed as a family affair and includes various attractions for all age groups.Kevin Ryan intends to run ISKANDAR in the second day feature race, the Connswater Shopping Centre EBF Auction Race. The Thirsk based trainer´s runner finished a close 5th of 22 runners with Frankie Dettori aboard last time in the #200,000 St. Leger Yearling Sales Race at Doncaster last time having won at Hamilton on his previous start. Kevin Ryan could have additional runners at the fixture but will decide when entries close next weekend.Alan Berry will run COUNTRYWIDE FLYER in the Deloitte & Touche Claiming Race on the first day of the meeting having finished 3rd at Musselburgh last weekend and has been placed in six out of his eight starts this season.County Durham based Trainer Paul Johnson envisages three possible runners from his yard including HOH´S BACK which won at Beverley yesterday and HORMUZ the winner of 11 races and represented the trainer at the Galway Festival. Berkshire trainer, Stan Moore was another British trainer who confirmed his intention to have runners at the two day Down Royal fixture.Racecourse Manager, Mike Todd said 'We will be delighted to welcome the British trained runners, their trainers and owners at our two day fixture. The interest endorses the excellent prize money available in Ireland and the cross channel runners will add to the meeting.'
