One of 99 entries for the valuable Gowran Classic on June 1st, David Marnane is looking forward to the return of his Manton Bay .

Bought for E20,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale, the Ulysses bay failed to fire on debut at the Curragh in September, but prevailed by a head on his second start at Dundalk.

"He's doing well. He has done very well over the winter. We are hoping to run him in Cork in about a month's time," Marnane reported.

"On the conditions of the race (in Gowran), he is quite well in.

"He has really developed over the winter - he has got into a very big, strong, powerful horse and he probably wants a mile/mile-and-a-quarter. He probably wants no extremes of ground.

"One to look forward to."
