Jockey Darragh O’Keeffe and trainer Henry De Bromhead’s hot streak continued at Gowran today, as the pair combined again to win the Noreside Catering Handicap Chase with Downmexicoway (5/4 — 5/2f).

O’Keeffe, who leads the jockeys’ championship, held Downmexicoway behind the leaders before improving him to lead approaching the second-last, with the pair scoring by three lengths from Drumgill .

It was O’Keeffe’s 13th win in a fortnight and afterwards De Bromhead, with his 12th in that time, reported “Downmexicoway toughed it out well and I’m delighted for Basil and Bernie Holian (owners).

“I was concerned about the ground, but he didn’t seem to mind it, and we’ll look for something in the next couple of weeks. He’s a nice horse and is progressing all the time.”
