Doyle hoping Goodbye can step up again Liz Doyle is hoping for further improvement from Last Goodbye when he tackles handicap company for the first time at Cork on Sunday. The progressive novice is unbeaten in two starts over timber and has won three of his four career starts, having also landed a Roscommon bumper. The Millenary gelding showed improvement to win a decent novice contest at Navan on his last start and Doyle is hoping there is still more to come from the five-year-old as he tackles the Easter Handicap Hurdle. "He's really, really well and I'm very pleased with him," said Doyle. "I think it's a suitable race for him and I'm just hoping they don't get a load of rain. I don't want it to get much wetter. He handled soft to heavy in Navan though. "He's a nice, fresh horse and hopefully there is still improvement in him. Donagh Meyler's 5lb claim brings him to a nice weight also. "When you get up to 130 you're not going to get an easy run of things. Hopefully there is still something left in the tank. "When you get to that kind of mark it's competitive and you are giving weight away to decent horses. "He's bouncing though, very well and the horses seems in good order." Ice Cool bids for compensation in the €30,000 contest having fallen with the race at his mercy at Limerick two weeks ago. Val O'Brien's charge has enjoyed a fine season in handicap hurdles, going up 26lb in the process, and the Athenry handler is hoping for another big show. "It was a bit disappointing last time but he's in top form," said O'Brien. "It's a competitive race but he has a nice light weight. "He's done well for us and never runs a bad race. He's always there or thereabouts. "It's a nice pot on Sunday and we're hoping for a big run." The Christy Roche-trained Coolaghknock Glebe looks among the leading contenders having scored twice already this year and chased home Squouateur in a hot contest at Fairyhouse last month. The winner was far from disgraced when seventh in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham while the third was Mall Dini, who claimed the Pertemps Final at the Festival. Willie Mullins introduces an interesting recruit in the concluding bumper in the shape of Gigginstown gelding Classic Place. The Beneficial gelding won his sole point-to-point start back in May 2014 when beating a useful sort in Dallas Cowboy. Chief among the opposition is the Sandra Hughes-trained Coeur Joyeux who has racked up a sequence of placed efforts. Those runs have been in decent company, behind the likes of Charbel and Vigil, and he looks to set a good standard.
