A trip to Naas could be next on the agenda for Le Vent D'Antan following his highly encouraging hurdling debut at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

Liz Doyle's star youngster was so impressive in a Leopardstown bumper last January he was sent off joint-favourite for the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, where he finished a respectable seventh.

The five-year-old missed the first part of the current campaign after suffering from stomach ulcers, but made a promising comeback last weekend, finishing third after colliding with eventual runner-up Daneking two flights from the finish.

Doyle said: "He's come out of the race fine and we were obviously pretty happy with how he performed on the day.

"I thought he jumped really well and travelled well and he was probably just a bit short. After treating him for ulcers we didn't want to be too hard on him at home.

"Hopefully his confidence won't be dented after he bumped into the other horse at the second-last. I'm not saying he'd have won if that hadn't have happened, but he would have finished an awful lot closer.

"All in all there are loads of positives to take from the run and he should improve a good bit. We can start to put our foot down with him now and there should be a bit more to come from him, hopefully.

"He is entered in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle in Leopardstown, but he won't run there and we'll just try and find another maiden for him in two to three weeks.

"I have in my mind Naas in two weeks on Saturday."
