Eoin Doyle sent out 13/2 chance Yosemite Gold to win Division ll of the Railway Bar Maiden Hurdle at Roscommon.

A 74-rated horse on the Flat, the son of Golden Horn had shown promise in a couple of starts over hurdles at Cork earlier in the year.

However, having disappointed at Clonmel on his latest outing, the four-year-old had a bit to prove in this company.

Tracking the pace into the straight under Phillip Enright, Yosemite Gold was delivered with a patiently judged ride to head Chantilly Wings and Bold Fury after the final flight.

Keeping on well close home, the Doyle trained gelding beat the latter by one-and-three-quarter lengths with Chantilly Wings back in third.

“All his runs over hurdles were solid and his jumping has improved with every run,” said Enright.

“He was very good today and was brave at the second last. In fairness to him he galloped from the last to the line.

“He had the rating in the race to be bang there and he produced his run so he was entitled to do that.

“He’s a four-year-old so he was getting the weight allowances as well, it helped. Hopefully it’s onwards and upwards for him.”
