The Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse is a possible target for Don Cossack following his narrow defeat at Punchestown on Sunday.

The six-year-old has been the apple of trainer Gordon Elliott's eye since his bumper days, but was slightly disappointing over hurdles last season.

However, he created a big impression when making a winning debut over fences at Galway at the end of October and lost little in defeat when going down by half a length to Morning Assembly in Sunday's Grade Two Florida Pearl Novice Chase.

Don Cossack could now head to Fairyhouse on December 1, if the race does not come too soon.

Elliott said: "He ran a great race. He was beaten half a length by a Grade One winner on his second run over fences, so you have to be very happy with him.

"It's frustrating to get beaten, but overall we were delighted with how he ran. He travelled well and jumped class.

"We'll just see how he is over the next couple of weeks and then decide whether to go for the Drinmore or not. I have to speak to the owners and go from there."
