Dry night at Ascot Ascot clerk of the course Chris Stickels on Saturday morning has reported a dry night at the Berkshire track last night, improving the chances of Frankel running at the venue today. Stickels said: "We had 6mm of rain yesterday but have been dry since about 7.30pm. The ground is soft on the straight course, and soft, heavy in places on the round course. Today is currently due to be dry with just the risk of an isolated shower." Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Frankel's owner Khalid Abdullah, added: "I will walk the course this morning, as I always do. If we are still concerned about the going then we will monitor the first few races."
