Dubawi Team Would Welcome Rain

Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor is hoping for some rain ahead of Dubawi´s recovery mission in the Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday.

The Dubai Millennium colt was a huge disappointment when he failed to live up to his big reputation in the Newmarket equivalent, finishing fifth behind Footstepsinthesand.

Godolphin had hoped Dubawi would give his ill-fated sire a Classic success but jockey Frankie Dettori thought the firm ground at Headquarters had gone against the colt.

'He worked well three days ago with Frankie riding and he looked very well,' said bin Suroor.

'That was his last piece of work and we hope the ground there will be softer than at Newmarket as that will suit him better.'

Paddy Power make Dubawi the 6-4 joint favourite with Footstepsinthesand but he will not be the only Godolphin runner in Ireland as Sundrop is due to tackle the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes.

The four-year-old was runner-up in the 1000 Guineas last year before disappointing in the Oaks but she did land a Listed race last autumn.

Sundrop will be making her seasonal bow and bin Suroor is keen to get started with her.

He added: 'She is very well. She worked very well yesterday and we are ready to run.'
