Duke of Marmalade and New Approach declared

Aidan O'Brien's Duke Of Marmalade and Jim Bolger's New Approach, first and third in the recent Juddmonte International Stakes at Newmarket, have just been declared to renew rivalry for Saturday's Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

Duke Of Marmalade is chasing a sixth consecutive Group One victory after enjoying a marvellous season while New Approach was a decisive winner of the Vodafone Derby at Epsom in June and both horses are likely to serve up a real treat for racegoers. There are 9 horses declared to run with Duke Of Marmalade being joined by stable companions, King Of Rome and Red Rock Canyon, while Henry Cecil's recent Haydock winner, Multidimensional, and Jane Chapple-Hyam's Traffic Guard, represent the English challenge. Kevin Prendergast's recent Ballyroan Stakes winner, Mores Wells, is joined in the line up by Charles O'Brien's Lord Admiral while Pat Flynn's She's Our Mark completes the field.

There are a dozen (12) fillies declared for the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes earlier on the card and this Group One event promises to be a real thriller with Aidan O'Brien's Halfway To Heaven and Jim Bolger's Lush Lashes, first and second in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood last month, set to clash again. Many observers felt that Lush Lashes was a very unlucky loser on that occasion but Halfway To Heaven is out to complete a hat-trick of Group One victories following her earlier success in the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh and won't be easily beaten. Mark Johnston's Falmouth Stakes winner, Nahoodh, is one of three English raiders in the field with Ger Butler's Baharah and James Given's Lady Gloria also taking up the challenge while Dermot Weld's triple course winner, Caribbean Sunset, should make her presence felt. Halfway To Heaven is joined in the line up by stable companions Listen, Psalm and You'resothrilling while Frances Crowley's Cheyenne Star, Kevin Prendergast's Dimenticata and the Harry Rogers trained Mooretown Lady complete the field.

The first race at Leopardstown on Saturday is at 1.40 pm and there is a Jackpot Guarantee for ?20,000.
