Dulcote upsets Punchestowns

Punchestowns failed to land odds of 4/11 on his reappearance in the Bathwick Tyres Supports Heros Mandarin Graduation Chase at Newbury.

Pride Of Dulcote (7/2) took the honours by a head under Nick Scholfield but much of the action was impossible to see through thick fog.

Successful trainer Paul Nicholls said: "Nick said he missed the last but jumped super apart from that and will come on a lot for it.

"He did a leg last year and I've been very careful with him. He could go for the Aon or the Argento at Newbury, but I might even put him in the Irish Hennessy. He'll definitely have a Gold Cup entry."

Nicky Henderson is likely to take a similar sort of path with Punchestowns, adding: "Tony was very happy. He will come on a lot for it, and I think that might just have been a very good race. This was a good starting point."
