Dunlop concern over quarantine

Trainer Ed Dunlop has expressed his concern over the quarantine procedures facing his high-class filly Lailani in the United States.

Tougher quarantine regulations have been imposed to prevent the spread of foot and mouth in the US.

Dunlop is looking at the possibility of running the filly in the Flower Bowl Stakes at Belmont on September 29 and the Breeders` Cup Filly & Mare Turf on the same course on October 27th.

He told the Racing Channel: 'It`s a concern, obviously. I would prefer not to have to leave the filly for 48 hours before she runs.'

Dunlop added that he would 'hope and pray' the authorities might 'change the system' over quarantine.

'It would be far from ideal to have to leave her on her own,' he said.

His team is planning to fly out to the States on September 22nd.

Lailani is unbeaten in her latest six races and her Group One successes include the Kildangan Stud Irish Oaks at the Curragh and the Vodafone Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.
