David Pipe has confirmed talented grey Dynaste is likely to kick off his season in Saturday's Betfair Chase at Haydock.

A winner of four of his five starts over fences last season, the seven-year-old has already bypassed potential engagements at Wetherby and Cheltenham in recent weeks.

The seven year old was a long-term ante-post favourite for last Saturday's Paddy Power Gold Cup but connections opted to miss that handicap in preference for a run in the weight-for-age contest on Merseyside.

Pipe told At The Races: "Hopefully, all being well, the plan will be to run him in the Betfair. He's in good form and three miles round Haydock should be ideal for him."

On his only previous visit to Haydock, Dynaste ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Fixed Brush Hurdle on this card in 2011.
