ESKLEYBROOK SET FOR FESTIVAL DATE

Eskleybrook, who is being aimed at next month`s Grand Annual Chase, warmed up for the Cheltenham Festival with a smooth success in the cantorindex.Com Handicap Chase on heavy going at Sandown today.

Carl Llewellyn disputed the lead on Eskleybrook, the 2-1 favourite, with Welsh March for the first of two circuits before taking control of the race on the turn for home and in the end coming home nine lengths clear of Foly Pleasant.

Winning trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies said: 'The Grand Annual at Cheltenham has been the plan all season. 'Eskleybrook only beat a few older horses today so I hope the handicapper is not too hard on him. 'He handled the ground very well and they went a good gallop. He used to be an exuberant front runner but he`s not like that any more and it`s a rash move to take him on.'
