Easy for Raider and Condon

Davy Condon was left looking around for non-existent dangers on the run-in as Peak Raider cruised home in the Irish Racing Yearbook Handicap Chase at Gowran Park. Gaelic Grounds came to lead at the second last in the 2m2f contest but a bad blunder ended his chances.

Peak Raider, who had moved through ominously well to challenge there, soon led and put the race to bed.

Condon could afford to peer back at his rivals in the closing stages as the Tommy Carberry-trained gelding hacked home for a five-length success.

The well-backed Indian Buck (6/1 from 16/1 in the morning) chased home the winner without ever looking like posing a threat.

The winner had unseated on his previous start and was placed three times before that.

"That made up for the last few days. He jumped well and settled great," said Carberry.

"Hopefully he'll stay a bit further. There aren't too many races for two-mile handicappers but there is one for him at Leopardstown over Christmas."
