Echua ran out an easy winner of the 32Red Handicap at Wolverhampton this afternoon, scoring for Co Donegal trainer Emmet Butterly.

The eight-year-old son of King’s Best won a maiden hurdle at Roscommon in June of 2010 for Seamus Fahey and he then ran twice more for Fahey the following month.

He only returned to action at Kempton in November of last year, and having his first start for Butterly he was the subject of a gamble.

He went of the 3/1 favourite on that occasion, and he finished second to the progressive Mr Burbidge.

He won on his next start at Wolverhampton in November, and after running three times since he followed up this afternoon.

Sent off at 4/1, the bay gelding trackers the leaders in fourth, before moving into second four furlongs out.

He hit the front over two furlongs out, and soon went clear, scoring easily by ten lengths under Luke Morris.
