Eckhart impresses in Sligo bumper

Meister Eckhart made an impressive debut when running away with the concluding bumper at Sligo.

Nina Carberry tracked the leaders on the Flemensfirth newcomer before sending him into the lead at the three furlong marker.

Charlie Swan 's charge responded in good style when asked to quicken turning for home, powering clear to record a 13-length victory.

Fellow 7/4 joint favourite Fire Belt couldn't go with the winner and had to settled for another runner-up spot, the fifth of his career.

"He's a real chaser in the making. He jumps really well and stays well," said Swan.

"We've always thought a bit of him. I've only two Flemensfirths in the yard and I would prefer a few more!

"He might go for a winners bumper at Naas in a few weeks time."

Swan also had word of recent impressive Roscommon bumper winner Sands Cove.

"He's entered at Tipperary on Sunday but if the ground was too dry he could go for a winners bumper at Galway. He hasn't been sold yet."
