Eclipse a possible for Canford Cliffs

Connections of Canford Cliffs are considering running him in the Coral-Eclipse over 10 furlongs at Sandown on Saturday July 2.

The brilliant Queen Anne Stakes winner was thought to be heading for the QIPCO Sussex Stakes for a potential clash with Frankel at Glorious Goodwood, and while that remains a strong possibility the Hannon team have not ruled out a trip to Sandown.

Prince of Wales's runner-up So You Think and last year's Derby and Arc winner Workforce are potential opponents in the Eclipse.

Richard Hannon junior, assistant trainer to his father, said: "Canford Cliffs came out of the Queen Anne fine and we are looking at either the QIPCO Sussex Stakes or possibly the Coral-Eclipse for him next.

"We will discuss it with the owners as it's a question of one race or the other.

"I would be confident taking on Frankel at Goodwood. It will be a good race and hopefully we will win."
