The Charles O'Brien trained Edith Cowan erased memories of a luckless run at Leopardstown recently when gaining a deserved win in the Gowran Gathering Wednesday August 14th Handicap at Gowran today.

The daughter of super stallion Galileo has shown good progression in recent times but met trouble in-running on her latest effort, finishing well for a never nearer third place 12 days ago.

Ridden today by Fran Berry, the filly was again patiently ridden and produced late with her effort, edging ahead inside the final furlong for a head win over Brog Deas

Afterwards O'Brien stated “she's an honest old thing. She could have won four now but of course if she had, she wouldn't have this rating!

“She goes into the sales ring at Newmarket next week but I'm starting to wonder whether that's a good idea. I'm starting to think that I could 'nick' a bit of black-type with her so I'll have to think about it.”
