El Tren won the Keadeen Hotel Ladies Invitational Handicap at the Curragh under Joanna Walton.

The eight-year-old gelding moved powerfully on terms turning for home and eased into the lead with less than three furlongs to go.

He was still full of running racing into the final furlong and had enough in the tank to repel Prosecution by a length at 12/1.

The runner-up was a never nearer second at 14/1 and he was four and three quarter lengths clear of popular 3/1 favourite Way Back Home Loudest Whisper was another half a length down in fourth at 10/1.

Trainer Aidan Howard said: “He’s a very honest horse and always runs well. My older horses tend to run well here because they are facing home. I gave him a little bit of work today and was very happy with him.

“Joanna gave him a great ride. She did everything I told her to a tee and was very confident.

“He could jump a hurdle as well as he handles an ease.”
