The opener at Downpatrick was the Randox Maiden Hurdle over two miles and a furlong and Euro Agent , trained for Ray Stokes by Gordon Elliott, made virtually all to beat Orderly Conduct  by three and a quarter lengths.

Well backed from 5/6 into 4/7 before the off, the Poet's Word gelding has twice been runner-up here during the summer and was third to Gillane at Gowran last Friday.

"The loose horse was lugging out a bit, but straightforward other than that," said winning rider Jack Kennedy.

"He was (pretty quick at the last), he was good. He was very measured.

"It is good ground, just on the kinder side, easier side of good."
