Elliott Looks To Newbury

Roman Villa could be back in action in Britain on Hennessy weekend after losing out in a desperately close finish at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Gordon Elliott is considering a trip to Newbury for the five-year-old after he was denied by just a neck when second to Kia Kaha at the Open meeting.

Elliott's runner challenged the Tony McCoy-ridden winner on the run-in and marginally took the lead, only to be edged out right on the line, with his rider Paul Carberry losing his whip in the final strides.

Elliott said: 'He loves fast-run two-mile races so you will likely see him in England again, and there is a two-mile conditional jockeys' race at the Hennessy meeting I am looking at.

'He was unlucky not to win at Cheltenham as he was in front everywhere but the line and Paul dropped his whip. But I am not going to knock him for that as he is only human and he handled him brilliantly out in the country.'
