Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy sealed a quick-fire double in Kilbeggan when 5/4 favourite Chanceawetmorning asserted to land race two.

A trip of an extended two-miles was on offer in this handicap hurdle for four-year-olds plus rated up to 110.

In truth, Chanceawetmorning and Piccolo Player (9/2) had the race between them a fair way out and it was Chanceawetmorning who readily kicked on from that rival before the last.

Kennedy drove him home by seven and a-half lengths from Piccolo Player who had no more left to give. There was a three-and-a-quarter-length gap back to third-placed Malbay Madness at 20/1.

This was his stable debut for Elliott having formerly been trained by Noel Kelly.

The trainer said: “He had done a couple of nice bits of work with us, so we were happy with what he was showing us.

“I think he probably needs further, but we said we’d take a chance over two miles today.”

Elliott and Kennedy also combined with 4/11 favourite Master Haku in the opener.
