Gordon Elliott is in no rush to finalise future plans for Outlander following his resurgent display in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal last Saturday.

The nine-year-old won the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown last Christmas for Elliott and owners Gigginstown House Stud, but disappointed in the Gold Cups at Cheltenham and Punchestown and was tailed off on his seasonal reappearance in the Irish Daily Star Chase at Punchestown last month.

However, he showed his true colours in County Antrim to get the better of fellow Gigginstown-owned runner Road To Respect and Elliott is hoping he can add to his top-level tally in the coming months.

He told At The Races: "The horse was very good and I thought Jack was brilliant on him.

"He was disappointing in Punchestown, but he had an operation for a kissing spine (during the summer) and it might just have taken him the run in Punchestown to get a bit of confidence and realise he wasn't hurting.

"He was a Lexus winner and one of the classiest horses in the race and it was nice to see him win another Grade One.

"I'd say the John Durkan might be a bit short for him myself, but obviously I'll have to talk to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary)."

Outlander has been given an entry in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 25.
