In a recent interview with Racing TV, trainer Gordon Elliott revealed that his crack mare Brighterdaysahead is set to embark on a novice chasing campaign and he also outlined plans for some of his other stable stars.

"Teahupoo (Stayers Hurdle winner last year and second in this year's renewal) was with Robert Power and was hacking away and came back to us this week," said Elliott.

"The Hatton's Grace is there for him again if it comes up soft, but if the ground is like it was last year, we might bypass that and you could maybe see him go for the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot and then on to Cheltenham. We'll just wait and see what way the ground is."

"Croke Park (a dual Grade 1 winner as a novice chaser last term) worked well this morning. We've given him a wind operation and he surprised me how well he worked this morning.

"He could go for the Champion Chase at Down Royal."

"Western Fold (Galway Plate winner and recent Grade 2 winner at Gowran) is also in the Champion Chase at Down Royal. If the ground came up good and a few of those proper Grade 1 horses weren't there, we might let him take his chance.

"He's a novice for the season, so he could head for the Drinmore, he could wait for Leopardstown at Christmas or he could head over to Kempton on St Stephen's Day.

"I've loads of options with him because he's a novice and is rated high 150s. He has loads of experience and is one we're looking forward to this year."

As it happens, both Croke Park and Western Fold have been declared to run in tomorrow's BetVictor Steeplechase (Grade 3) over 2m7f at Punchestown.

"Romeo Coolio (Grade 1 novice hurdle winner at Leopardstown last Christmas and subsequently placed at Cheltenham and Aintree) is going jumping fences. He has jumped fences and jumps very well.

"If Brighterdaysahead didn't start off in Down Royal, he could go there."

"Wodhooh (Martin Pipe winner at Cheltenham) is in good form and could go for the Hatton's Grace. She's got very strong and is a good mare. She's done nothing wrong all year, so we're really looking forward to her as well

"We're five or six weeks off getting going. We're probably a little behind ourselves, we redone all the gallops this year and it kind of held us up a bit.

"The old gallop was still there when we had the Galway Plate and Hurdle winners. We didn't start work on it until the week after Galway. I thought it would be a two-week job, it ended up being two months, but there you go!"
