Gordon Elliott is usually the man to follow at Navan and the Cullentra trainer saddles the favourite in the opening three races on a seven-race card this afternoon beginning at 12.10. Lazare De Star and He Can’t Dance are both solid evens favourites in the first two events while Son Of Anarchy is the 4/1 market leader in the featured €45,000 Navan Handicap Hurdle at 1.20.

The JP McManus-owned gelding opened his account under Rules in style at Punchestown last time while Elliott also runs Sa Fureur Timeless Treaty and Grimaud in this 2m4f event. Slade Steel looks set to go off at odds-on for Henry De Bromhead in the QuinnBet Beginners Chase at 2.25 in the absence of Elliott’s Wingmen (stone bruise), while the Willie Mullins-trained The Irish Avatar is also around the 4/6 mark in the bumper where Elliott supplies the likely danger in Low Kick

Following 1mm of rain since declarations, the going remains soft to heavy and the forecast is for a mainly dry day.
