Emiyna on trial in Athasi

Emiyna will bid to prove herself up to classic contention when she runs in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh tomorrow.

John Oxx's filly looked a smart prospect when taking her maiden at Dundalk last month and now steps up in class in the Grade 3 contest.

The Aga Khan filly will need to please connections if she is to be given a chance in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

"We liked her when she won her maiden and she's always shown plenty at home," said Oxx.

"It's a tough race against the older mares and a good test. If she's to take her place in a guineas she would want to show up well."

Oxx also saddles two in the Listed Tetrarch Stakes but admits they have a bit to find on form.

"We're chancing our arm a little bit with them," admitted Oxx.

"Zabarajad showed a good bit last year and it's worth running him to see where he fits in.

"He's still a maiden but he can run in a maiden in a few weeks.

"Dubawi Star is rated 92 and we're also running him to see where he fits in."
