Willie McCreery will wait on softer ground conditions for Epona Plays after her fifth placed effort in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last month.

The Curragh handler decided to side step the Falmouth Stakes with the Australia filly last Friday on similarly quick ground at Newmarket.

The four-year-old had been very impressive when taking the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes at the Curragh on testing ground in May and connections will aim her now at an autumn campaign.

“I didn't want to run in the Falmouth as I thought the ground would be too quick,” said McCreery.

“I don't want to run her again on that quick ground as Billy thought she felt the ground last time so we won't do that again to her.

“We have options in the autumn. I don't really want to travel this early but we will towards the end of the year with her.”
