Ervedya attempts to take her game to the next level when she competes against older horses for the first time in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville this afternoon.

The three-year-old daughter of Siyouni has excelled during an unbeaten campaign in which she has already claimed Group One victories in the French 1000 Guineas at Longchamp and the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"She is progressing very well," said trainer Jean-Claude Rouget.

"She is in very good form. All has gone well since Ascot. If it hadn't gone well, she wouldn't be running.

"The ground looks like it will be good and that will be no problem for her, of course.

"I believe she is ready to take on the older horses."

Chief hope from a strong British raiding party appears to be Amazing Maria, who has been rejuvenated since moving to David O'Meara's North Yorkshire stables.

The four-year-old filly made a sudden return to form when she defeated Rizeena, who renews rivalry in France, in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She then consolidated upon those gains with a decisive success in the Group One Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

O'Meara said: "She's been fine since Newmarket and got there OK - all is good. She's in good form and we're hoping for a good run."

As, too, are connections of Rizeena, who missed the Falmouth with a sore foot.

"She's been very good over the last few weeks," said trainer Clive Brittain.

"She's battle-hardened and we are very pleased with the way she's moving. She's always been a good horse at a good level."

Odeliz takes her chance for Middleham trainer Karl Burke.

The five-year-old mare has held her own in decent company this season and deservedly won a Group Three in Hamburg in June, with the runner-up that day, Evita Peron, having since struck in a Listed race at Ascot.

Burke said: "She travelled through on Thursday night and that went well.

"We were getting a bit frustrated at her running so well without winning a Group race, but thankfully she did that at Hamburg.

"The form was also nicely boosted by Evita Peron winning at Ascot last week, so that was good to see.

"She's got a date at the sales later in the year, so we are just going to try to enjoy her while we can. Her next few runs are likely to be at the top level, so I'm looking forward to seeing how she does against those good horses."

Seasoned traveller Amulet steps into Group One company for the first time, with confidence high after a narrow success in a Listed race at Nantes in June.

Trainer Eve Johnson Houghton said: "She loves soft ground and they've had quite a bit of rain out there, which will suit her.

"She's a really, really nice horse, but we are under no illusions - if she can sneak a place we'll be delighted.

"Tony Piccone is a French jockey who gave her a really good ride at Nantes so we've stuck with him.

"No-one knows anything about him - he's my secret weapon - but he always listens and always tries his hardest, and that's all you can ask."

Fintry, beaten a length and a quarter by Amazing Maria at Newmarket, and the unbeaten Usherette represent trainer Andre Fabre and Godolphin.

The Carlos Laffon-Parias-trained Bawina was a nose ahead of Fintry in the Falmouth and flies the flag for the Wertheimer brothers, who won the Rothschild four times on the spin with the mighty Goldikova.
