Etlaala Waits For Haydock

Etlaala is to bypass next week´s VC Bet Nunthorpe Stakes in favour of a tilt at the William Hill Sprint Cup at Haydock Park.

The three-year-old is to stick to six furlongs for the Group One at the Merseyside course on September 3 following his fine third over that trip to the now-retired Pastoral Pursuits in the Darley July Cup.

Connections of the Barry Hills-trained colt have decided to resist dropping him back to the minimum trip at York.

'Waiting for Haydock gives him more time and we think he may be better over six furlongs than five,' said Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Hamdan Al Maktoum.

The one-time Classic hope has not won since taking the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster last September but his latest run in the Newmarket feature suggested that he was coming back to form.
