FALLON TO RETURN BEFORE NEW YEAR

Kieren Fallon is set to return to race-riding just after Christmas, six months after he suffered serious injuries from an horrific fall at Royal Ascot, according to a report this morning.

The three-times champion jockey is pencilled in to make his comeback at Nad Al Sheba in Dubai on December 28th.

'I am continuing with the physiotherapy on a daily basis, but you can only really get fit by race-riding,' he told the Racing Post.

'I intend to take it easy to start with, but can`t wait to get back in the saddle.'

Fallon has been out of action since June 21 when he sustained injuries a fall from Alhawa after a pile-up in the Ascot Stakes.

The next day he underwent extensive surgery on his left shoulder, which if he had not received could have left permanent damage.

Fallon later revealed he had been 'minutes away' from the loss of use of his left arm, had the decision to operate not been taken as quickly.

He had initally ruled out a return to the saddle before the end of the year, but has been getting fit by riding out in Dubai for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin since mid November.

'It has been a long hard struggle to get back to where I am now. But it is time to kick on - that final step won`t be completed until I am back on the racetrack,' added Fallon.
