FOOT AND MOUTH STOPS CHEPSTOW

Chepstow`s meeting tomorrow has become the latest to be abandoned due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in England.

The racecourse falls within exclusion zone five set up by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Farms.

Clerk of the course David McAllister said today: 'I`m afraid that after discussions between the British Horseracing Board, Jockey Club and the ministry it has been decided that we can`t race tomorrow.

Newcastle`s meeting on Monday was the first to be lost during the current crisis as it fell within a 10-mile exclusion zone around confirmed cases in Northumberland.
