Andre Fabre is not ruling out a tilt at the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Waldgeist following his thrilling victory at Saint-Cloud on Sunday.

The Galileo colt claimed his third win of the season and provided his trainer with an eighth Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud success when getting the better of John Gosden’s filly Coronet by a nose.

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is likely to be Waldgeist’s long-term target, a race Fabre has won on a record seven occasions but not since Rail Link struck gold in 2006.

However, Waldgeist could first cross the Channel for the King George at Ascot on July 28.

Fabre said: “I’m delighted with him, of course.

“He is in the King George and if he recovers well we will look at it.

“I’m not sure if he has improved this season or not. Last year he hurt his back in the Irish Derby and it took him a long time to recover.”
