Fairy Springs Another Cork Surprise

With the ground riding very deep the bookmakers could have expected to get a few results but even the most optimistic of them would hardly have envisaged two twenty five to one shots scoring, the second of which came in the form of Hill Fairy impressive victor of the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Lombardstown Mares Novice Chase on her debut over the larger obstacles.

Kevin Coleman led before the second last on John Morrison's one time flat and two time hurdle winner, and from that point it was plain sailing for the daughter of Monsun as she went away to account for Brotenstown by nine lengths.

Morrison commented: "She fell a few times over hurdles but that was really because she was jumping them too big. She was jumping her hurdles like fences and there was no real need to school her. She'll now be aimed at more of those mares races, there is one coming up at Thurles in the new year." (EM)
