Kieren Fallon helped himself to an opening race double at Fairyhouse as he followed up his course success on Blairmayne from six days back in the Summer Family Day @ Fairyhouse July 10th Handicap.

Half-an-hour on from his win on Michael O'Callaghan's Magical Fire Fallon was aboard 11/4 favourite Blairmayne for trainer Natalia Lupini.

Blairmayne kept on well under pressure to assert in the closing stages for a length and a half victory over Haqeeba having led from over a furlong out. He'd come through from mid-division in the run.

"He's improved from the last race, and I'm very pleased with him. I was worried about the draw but Kieren had a plan and was very good," stated Miss Lupini.

"Kieren said there is a nice sprint in York that may suit him."

The three-member syndicate, the Raintree Racing grouping, are from Armagh.

R.P. Whelan, rider of China Eyes trained by P.J.Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount reared up leaving the stalls.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Somebodytoldme ridden by G.F. Carroll, Blairmayne, ridden by K. Fallon, Bambari ridden by W.M. Lordan, and In The Air ridden by C.P. Hoban, where it appeared Somebodytoldme and In The Air suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion any interference was caused accidentally and so they took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Set To Fire ridden by Caroline Murtagh, and Trenchtown Rock ridden by T.P. Madden, where it appeared Trenchtown Rock suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, in the presence of J.P. Murtagh, trainer and master of Caroline Murtagh. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion Caroline Murtagh was in breach of Rule 214 in that she had ridden carelessly, and having taken her record into account, they suspended her for 1 raceday.
