Fairyhouse gets the go ahead

Following a course inspection at Fairyhouse today, the course was found to be fit for racing ahead of the scheduled fixture on Sunday, 17th January. The ground is currently heavy on both courses at Fairyhouse.

After the bad spell of weather which forced a complete shutdown of racing since the New Year, Fairyhouse are delighted to kick off 2010 with a host of top class national hunt races, the highlight of which is the Grade 2 Normans Grove Steeplechase. Entries are mouthwatering for this 2m 1f event and include last year’s winner Mansony, Powers Gold Cup winner Aran Concerto, Leopardstown’s Paddy Power Chase winner Golden Silver and the eagerly awaited return of Rare Bob, winner of the Champion Novices Chase at Punchestown last April.

Commenting on the Sunday’s card, Caroline Gray, General Manager of Fairyhouse said: “I was delighted having walked the track this morning to find it raceable and our only concern at this stage is a band of rain that is forecast to come in on Friday night. Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to be dry and bright. Racing fans have truly been deprived of racing over the last number of weeks so I hope that the punters will turn out in large numbers on Sunday to celebrate a return to “business as usual” and witness a truly top class national hunt fixture”.

First race is at 12.30pm. Admission is €15 (€10 OAPs and Students with valid ID) and Children under16 go free.
