Fame heads Gold Cup 13 Thirteen runners have stood their ground for next Thursday's Ascot Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. The potential field are headed by last year's winner and this season's ante-post favourite Fame And Glory who will be attempting to provide his trainer, Aidan O'Brien, with his sixth win in the race in seven years. The Ballydoyle handler has also handed an entry to impressive Ormonde Stakes winner and last season's Investec Derby fourth Memphis Tennessee. The biggest threat could come from fellow Irish raider Saddler's Rock who shaped well in finishing second a week ago on his first start since winning the Doncaster Cup last September. "He came out of his race fine the other day, so we just have to hope the next week goes well, but it's so far so good," said trainer John Oxx. The domestic challenge is led by the Godolphin-owned pair of Opinion Poll and Colour Vision while the latter's former handler, Mark Johnston, could run Gulf Of Naples. Cup regular Askar Tau could attempt to improve on last year's fifth place finish while Bridge Of Gold, Ibicenco, German raider Lacateno, John Gosden's pair Caucus and Nehaam and Donald McCain's Overturn complete the possible contenders for the two and a half mile Group One.
