Famous Figure (7/1) produced a smart change of gear in the straight to win the concluding BetVictor Flat Race at Punchestown.

Dropped out in rear by Finny Maguire, the Famous Name gelding still had only one of his nine rivals behind him with two furlongs to race.

Once asked for his effort, he picked up well and surged through a gap to lead entering the final furlong and kept on well to post a two and a half lengths win over Hopeful Hero

The winner, trained for his wife Natalie by Pat Fahy, had shaped well in a bumper at the festival here in April before disappointing on his second start at Ballinrobe.

Fahy said: “He ran a great race here on debut, but it was a disaster his last run where the ground went against him.

“He has buckets of gears and is going to be a good horse.”
