Fanshawe Delighted With Song

James Fanshawe is hoping for a big run from Soviet Song as she bids for a hat-trick in the UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation Falmouth Stakes hat-trick at Newmarket next Wednesday.

The six-year-old mare took the scalp of Attraction in the Group One contest over a mile two years ago and then defeated Alexander Goldrun on the July course last summer.

And the Elite Racing Club's mare opened her account for this campaign when landing the Group Two Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot by two lengths from Echelon.

She has pleased at home since then and demonstrated her well-being with a spin on the Newmarket gallops on Wednesday.

The mare cantered on Warren Hill under her regular exercise rider Mark Denaro on Thursday and she was clearly on good terms with herself, moving in company with Royal Hunt Cup winner Cesare.

Fanshawe said: 'She has come out of her Ascot race well, is fine and I hope we keep her in one piece until next week.

'We'll just keep her ticking over. Whether we give her a spin on Saturday, I'm not sure. I will decide tomorrow.

'But she is in good nick. This morning, she was nice and fresh after her bit of work.'
