Fanshawe delighted with Grand effort James Fanshawe was today determined to find a winning chance for Grandera after the colt`s fine second place in the Coral Eurobet Eclipse Stakes.He was 'thrilled' with his effort, going down by just half a length to Medicean at Sandown on Saturday, caught close home having looked a likely winner when hitting the front entering the final furlong.But he is aware that the three-year-old has yet to win a race in 2001, despite having run another blinder when a close third in the French Derby last month.Refusing to be downcast at another narrow defeat, the trainer said: 'We have got to be thrilled with how he ran.'When you commit yourself on that hill you are always a target and you never know if you will hang on until the line.'Reflecting on possible targets for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes entry, Fanshawe said: 'It is difficult to make plans the day after a race and we will play it by ear but we would like to get him winning.'He has proved on his last two runs he is a really good colt without winning.'The step down to a mile and a quarter was no problem - the crucial thing is he needs a galloping track and top-of-the-ground.'
